Mumbai: Amidst controversies, the teaser for the film 'Kala Hiran: The Battle for Legacy' has been released, offering a courtroom drama from start to finish. Spanning approximately 1 minute and 56 seconds, the teaser showcases the poaching case, witness testimonies, police investigations, and courtroom arguments.
Actor Kashif Iqbal Khan plays the character of Ayan Khan in the film—a role reportedly inspired by Bollywood star Salman Khan. While allegations suggest the film is based on the 1998 blackbuck poaching case involving Salman Khan and the controversy over gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, the filmmakers have explicitly denied this.
The teaser opens with the voice of actor Govind Namdev, who portrays a lawyer representing the Bishnoi community. During a court hearing, he presents a witness and asks, "Tell the court without fear what you saw that day." Testifying in court, the witness says, "It was around 11 PM when I heard the sound of two gunshots fired in quick succession. We realized someone was hunting a deer."
Another witness appears in the teaser, stating that the incident wasn't merely about shooting a deer but was an attack on the principles taught by their guru, Jambheshwar. The teaser features various scenes, including a night in the forest, characters heading out for the hunt in a Gypsy, the sound of gunfire, and protests by villagers.
As the teaser progresses, the suspense in the story intensifies. Govind Namdev’s character is seen questioning police officers in court. He asks an officer if there was pressure from higher authorities to shield a superstar. Additionally, a local resident claims in court that he was threatened with harm to his family if he testified against Ayan Khan. The teaser goes on to show Ayan Khan facing allegations such as intimidating witnesses, making a driver disappear, and bribing doctors. An eyewitness testifies in court that the blackbuck was shot from very close range. Ayan Khan appears distressed by these accusations and asks his lawyer to handle the matter.
Towards the end of the teaser, a line delivered by Kashif Iqbal Khan is heard: "For the cost of making just one of my films, I could buy a thousand such drivers and have them change their statements in court."
It is worth noting that in the film's first look, Ayan Khan's appearance bore a resemblance to Salman Khan; he is even shown wearing a bracelet similar to Salman's. Allegedly, the filmmakers changed the characters' names to avoid controversy. The character inspired by Salman Khan has been named Ayan Khan, while the character inspired by gangster Lawrence Bishnoi has been named Lion Bishnoi.
The blackbuck poaching case involving Salman Khan came to light in 1998 while he was shooting for the film *Hum Saath-Saath Hain* in Jodhpur, Rajasthan. It was alleged that a blackbuck was hunted near Kankani village on the night of September 27–28, 1998, during the film's shoot.
Apart from Salman Khan, the names of actors Saif Ali Khan, Tabu, Sonali Bendre, and Neelam also surfaced in connection with this case. A total of four cases were registered against Salman, including two Chinkara poaching cases, the Kankani blackbuck poaching case, and an Arms Act case.
Legal proceedings in the blackbuck poaching case began following a complaint lodged by the Bishnoi community. Salman was convicted in the Chinkara poaching cases in 2006. Later, he was granted relief in the Arms Act case. Meanwhile, on April 5, 2018, a Jodhpur court convicted Salman Khan in the blackbuck poaching case, sentencing him to five years in prison and imposing a fine; however, he was later granted bail.
Gangster Lawrence Bishnoi has also been linked to this entire affair, having issued threats to Salman Khan on several occasions. The Bishnoi community holds the blackbuck sacred to its religious beliefs, which is why this controversy has remained a topic of discussion for a long time. The film 'Kala Hiran – The Battle for Legacy' is directed by Bharat S. Sreenet and produced by Amit Jani. Apart from Kashif Iqbal Khan, the film features actors such as Mukesh Tiwari, Govind Namdev, Kamlesh Sawant, and Naresh Gosain.
